The story of Bold Works began with Daniel Young in 2006, when he founded an agency focused on mobile and digital product design. Based in Cleveland, the clients reflected the local economy, one of healthcare and manufacturing/heavy industry.

The agency had a vision to use mobile technologies—mobile apps and hardware/IoT—to generate innovative products for medical and industrial applications.

2006 was a time before the iPhone or Android devices. Early products were based on Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices. While limited in their capacities as compared to current devices, they provided a unique opportunity to design and develop powerful digital solutions that created real value for clients.

With the advent of the modern smartphones, the world quickly changed—the modern era of digital transformation was born.

As the business grew, Daniel Young saw an opportunity to found a new agency in Berlin that would focus on digital product design.

Bold Works GmbH was founded in 2013 as a design studio, supporting both American and European-based clients in developing new innovations using mobile apps, deep tech, and IoT hardware.

The Berlin-based team consisted of a team of experts, all skilled at developing new technologies and innovations for service-based startup ventures and business units.

Over time, Bold Works’ mission evolved from design of new products to the development of the digital health ventures bringing these products to market. The change began in 2017, culminating with the launch of Digital Health Works, which was spun out in 2023.

Consulting and advisory work related to digital health and life sciences now resides within Digital Health Works.

Today, Bold Works acts as an investor and advisor, making seed investments in early-stage ventures that align with its mission to use technology to advance human-centric businesses.

Bold Works GmbH operates as the Licensee for Digital Health Works Inc. a US-based digital health commercialization agency for its activities outside of the United States.
